Is this your first time taking a pregnancy test? Obviously, it is not something you should have extensive knowledge in. However, you need to know how to take the test before jumping into the process. Clearblue provide you with clear written instructions which are included in the box when you purchase the test. You must make sure you have read these thoroughly before taking the test.
Before Taking the Test
Expiry dates are still used on Pregnancy Tests:
The first thing you would need to do is checking the expiry date on the box of the test you’re taking. An expired test can give an inaccurate result.
Put that cup of tea down and pick the test up:
Avoid drinking TOO much before taking the test. Drinking liquids can dilute the levels of the HCG hormone in the urine and can often cause a negative result. If the levels of HCG are too low, they may not be picked up by the test.
Early bird catches the worm:
It is important, if testing early, to use the first urine of the day as this is when your HCG levels in your urine are most concentrated. If you have already missed your period, you don't have to use this rule as your HCG levels will be rising in the first 10 weeks.
Decide your method:
Are you going to hover over the toilet on your tiptoes and hold the test in your urine stream? Or are you going to collect a sample in a clean cup and do the good old fashioned "dip test"? Whichever method you're choosing to take, you must decide before hand to ensure you're doing everything correctly.
How to Use Clearblue Pregnancy Test?
Once you have done all the steps above, it's now time to take the test. Below we have an easy-to-follow, step-by-step guide.
- Remove the packaging from the test and take off the cap.
- Place the tip of the pregnancy test into your urine stream for 5 seconds.
- Dip the tip of the pregnancy test into a urine sample collected in a clean, dry container for 5 to 20 seconds. *Important Tip: Keep the absorbent tip pointing downwards throughout the testing process.
